We are born with our ears already open, and they never close again — not in sleep, not in grief. The eyes were given lids; the ears were not. And yet listening, the thing we are supposed to build out of hearing, has quietly become one of the rarest gifts a person can give.

This mini book is about that gift. Not the technique of it — you will find no scripts here, no steps for better conversations, no formulas. I think of listening less as a skill and more as a kind of hospitality: you make room inside yourself, and someone else's weather comes in. Sometimes that someone is a friend. Sometimes it is a room, a piece of music, a street at night. Sometimes it is your own body, speaking in its low voice about rest, hunger, worry.
